If 4 cops can't control one homeless guy, they have no business being cops. These guys look as competent and professional as a Walmart employee.

@bklyndroobeki
totally right about martial arts. Specifically kung fu wing chun. You know i'm taking lessons since 16 months now and i know it's highly effective in close range combat; lot's of hands-arms involved to knock someone down, hurt badly and control someone. It's better to have an eye gouged or a broken arm than receiving 12 bullets.
And in that video, kung fu would have been the best possible scenario to apply it; controlling someone hitting like a crazy everywhere.
The officers in that video are improvising and are not in control at all. Martial arts IS control. They should have take a step back instead of rushing on him and then let him come and take a shot; with someone as agitated as him, i would have hit with a front thrust kick first.
anyway

I dunno, I don't really see anything wrong with this. Being on drugs isn't an excuse. He shouldn't have tried to get crazy with the cops. Just sit down and shut up. It's very possible the guy did grab the gun, and even if he wasn't able to get it out, if he just reached for it I don't blame the cops for doing what they did. Those cops have families and most are out there trying to do the right thing. What if the guy did pull out the gun and killed an officer, then they'd be saying -- wish I had shot him before that happened. Yeah, there are some bad cop things going on -- I wouldn't consider this one of them.
- their job is to keep calm and stay in control, not to start fucking riots. if you;ve got a family you are worried about, don't become a cop.scruffics
- a cop and get a job at the office.scruffics
- That makes no sense whatsoeverfyoucher1
- So when that guy ran back in the tent, they should have assumed he was bringing them cookies?fyoucher1

look for Skid Row street on Google Images
- bklyndroobeki0
In Sweden the homeless have lodging. Folks who are on the street PREFER to be there.
- believe it or not most of the people in America PREFER to be on the street as well, as opposed to a shelter or housingsublocked
- bklyndroobeki0
they should teach cops martial arts.
that's all.
- ernexbcn0
- When I was a teenager I used to call it wine country. Skid row still looks terrible with a lot of the available space taken up by someone or someone's stuff.shellie
- someone or someone's stuff. Dtla is less sketchy now but still not like a typical "downtown" vibe in most cities.shellie
- hiya shellie!! :)e-pill
- y'd they target him? look @ that encampment x the streetbklyndroobeki
- lots of people on skid row. lots of homeless.sublocked

Four cops can't each grab one of the guy's extremities?
- goldieboy0
The homeless guy must have grabbed one of their guns. I mean, why else would a cop want to shoot a guy in that situation, and with so many officers around him? They all stood back after with a "did that just fucking happen" frozen stance. It's fucked-up which ever way you look at it and really sad to see.
- I can think of many reasons why an LAPD cop might shoot a homeless black man.monospaced
- Why? Let's not forget we're talking about this video thoughgoldieboy
- one reason is he fucking hates homeless people and just fucking wants to kill them, and that's why he's a copmonospaced
- or he's seriously trigger-happy in general, and his red flags were ignored through training and on-the-job reviewsmonospaced
- or the culture of the LAPD, their outrageous racism and hate, and its pressure just got to himmonospaced
- for that video, specifically, because he's a fucking pussy and also probably really, really, REALLY unintelligentmonospaced
- ... right. So much insight.goldieboy
- Those are possible reasons! Are they not? They explain tons of shitty cop murders.monospaced
- There are many reasons behind cops misusing and abusing power.monospaced
- I was referring to this one case... Not a generalisation of the LAPD. It's a question you won't be able to answer so no worriesgoldieboy
- BusterBoy0
How's that second amendment travelling fuckers?
- kgvs720
When in doubt, just kill
- formed0
yup, that's the point - how incompetent must you be to let a "dangerous suspect" grab your gun? How horrible must your training be to even let that be in the realm of possibilities??
They did look scared after. I'll bet that it was one nervous idiot and they all regroup to defend him. Ridiculous.
Someone gets killed, someone should answer for it. Someone fires more than once and there better be one hell of a clear danger, not some "oh, he was reaching for a gun". He was unarmed, and if he did get armed, that was also the officer's fault.
Crazy crazy. Something really has to change.

Even if you don't blame the 5 officers for not being able to subdue the one man,
And even if you believe the story that the dude really did grab the cop's gun,
the cop who somehow allows a guy who has got 5 dudes on him to get ahold of his gun (which is holstered so as to not permit anyone but the officer to draw it) should be considered incompetent for even permitting it to happen. I'm sure they are supposed to be trained to prevent that from happening in a physical scuffle.
- not to defend the officers here, but we have no idea what really happend here. we cant see anything.benfal99
- uan0
the officers look frightened too after the shots. the other guy who gets arrested is very cooperative with the cop running to the wall.
- pinkfloyd0
I'm confused. We are allowed to film cops? Don't people in general get annoyed when they are being filmed and cussed at?
- BTW, i'm not saying it was wrong for the guy to cuss the cops out. Just a general question.pinkfloyd
- yes, you can film what's happening in the publicmonospaced
- Yes you always have a right to film or record police officers on dutysarahfailin

Did we watch the same video??5 cops against a manlet, can't even keep it under control,
400 people shot by police, when reported,
and 10 years ago it was their word against people, but now you have the video, can you show me where he goes for the gun,at the end of the day, just sprinkle some crack on him...
- benfal990
someone said
"They told him to leave and he continued to resist. They tried to move him by force and he continued to resist. They tazed him and he continued to resist. He then proceeded to take the cop's gun. At that point he was no longer unarmed. The shooting is 100% justified."
