anyone into GTD (getting things done... david allen)? i've been following this for years, but am always evolving my system.
i used to use evernote for everything, but just switched to omnifocus for task tracking, which i like... contexts are nice.
what's your setup?

Old-fashioned book with linepaper that our printer sent us for christmas, as every year. And a pair of headphones that comes apart a bit more every day.

> Things for tasks
Omni outliner for altitudes
Mindjet for mind maps
Boomerang for ticklers
Apple calendarDude.
I always feel extra old when I'm reminded how much I'm in the dark when it comes to the tools people use today.
Altitudes? Ticklers?
Kind of like how the elder generation approaches computers now. Press the any key? Where's the any key?
Then again I know a myriad of tools to "get shit done" doesn't necesserily equals being able to do shit. One can still be lazy, and some old dinosaur like me are fine using a piece of paper + a pen.
But as people get more specialized the more collaboration is of concern. As such these tools turns vital, and we'd better catch up lest we dinosaur want to turn obscure. So the solution is simple:
- work at an agency learn wtf a tickler is.
- Work for yourself, don't give a shit about wtf an altitude is, and fuck you kids get off my lawn.

As always, it’s not the tool, it’s how you use it... I found that mail, a calendar and pen&paper are sufficient for my task management.
I recently got into a project where they use Trello. Fine. But the lady who is in charge of project management uses it like some kind of magic lamp. She puts up a to-do like: »Brochure« and expects the printed result up her doorstep the next day. Then I have to email her (because a simple phone call is an alien concept to her and she usually doesn’t answer the phone): what’s the content? How many copies? What’s your budget? etc. etc.... Then I do my work, emails back and forth, lots of bitching from her side, and the task is done. But not quite: open Trello and move the task into the »done« category.
If you don’t know shit in general and how to organize your work, no app will save you and it will just be another useless mouth to feed for all poor souls involved.

Wunderlist, GCal, and strictly nothing more. Simplicity is what makes this work.
