Three Reasons The Surface Pro 3 Is Struggling
There are three reasons: 1) Microsoft, 2) Windows 8, and 3) Price.
- ukit20
Tried one at the store the other day...it's a nicely designed device, nice screen etc. Too bad it runs Windows :(
- and yet most of the world uses Windowsformed
- and seems to hate it..zenmasterfoo

Just tried it out, and the drawing experience on the surface pro 3 is legit. Was on the 4gb model, and didn't see any lag with a drawing program on it.
- Didn't notice any gap between the tip and the cursor. Puts the 21ux to shamepinkfloyd
- What app?monospaced
- Not sure, it seems to be a default drawing app that comes with surfacepinkfloyd

everyone is laughing at the sureface, but I've yet to see a mac pro in the wild too, seems everyone is buying the macbookpro instead :(
- Who would take a computer into the wild?ukit2
- fleshlight??GeorgesII
- NBC Universal has all Mac Pros, hundreds of them, for editors. Seen 'em with my own eyesmonospaced
- Same with a lot of the major television and movie studiosmonospaced
- The Mac Pro is really a video editor thing, not a "pro in the public" machinemonospaced

ok, this is where I come up to the conclusion that the surface is one of the best office/tablet ever and people are just hating because "muh microsoft lol"
guy behind me has the i7 setup + keyboard and uses it to code but can also be used for some decent photoshop,
I tried it for 30 min and was blown away by how snappy it was, screen is beautiful, it's lighter than I thought and the pressure pen is mightier..
honestly if I had some cash laying around I would def get one, like right fuckn now- looks legitpinkfloyd
- or you can get a MacBook Air for less money and do the same, except for touch the removable screen... for less $monospaced
- yo, we have plenty of mac booc air here and they fuckn suck, you can barely run photoshop and chrome together,GeorgesII
- weird, since the same processor and video card as this surfacemonospaced
- lol, mono, one day in a future you'll look back and realize, "fuck they didn't even pay me for my fanboyism"GeorgesII
- but honestly, I had to go check and there's no i7 macbook air, so what's your point??GeorgesII
- yes, there is an i7 Air, that is my point, and it's cheaper... not trying to be a fanboy eithermonospaced
- $1700 for the i7 256 Surface Pro
$1350 for the i7 256 MBAmonospaced - Looking a the blur on the surface pro, I take it George looks at lots of Japanese pornpinkfloyd

Ballmer to toss out the Clippers’ iPads, replace them with the Surfaces

- obviously you don't... but this is a thread about the Surfac and this is 100% relevant to the topicmonospaced

"My desktop PC is now a server and I really don’t need a $1500 laptop at the moment."
Um, then why'd he buy it? Some valid gripes on there, but in all fairness, there's not anything to compare it to (why would you compare it to a desktop? My deskstop has 32gb of ram, several drives, dedicated graphics card, etc., etc.).
Just cheering for the underdog.

to those who suggest getting a macbook air instead - this is not a simple question of hardware - there's an entire operating system behind it as well.
i use both, but i primarily use windows and have found its workflow suits my taste and preferences far, far better than os x.
that's why i've always hated these debates - both sides seem to be blissfully ignorant to the bigger picture - or maybe their professional experience with computers doesn't go much further than photoshop, mail, and their favorite browser, making such switches as trivial as their remarks seem to indicate - in which case i guess i should expect the oversight..
- totally agree, which is why I find it interesting that the entire Surface website has MacBook Air all over itmonospaced
- haven't see that yet, but like i said, both sides seem to always be at fault..SteveJobs
- yeah, their main selling point is comparing it to the Airmonospaced
- well i would expect that from the brand - that's just part of a solid marketing campaign targeting new and casual usersSteveJobs
- if angry birds, office, and chrome are your daily go-to's, i'd say that's fair play..SteveJobs
- but that take is "blissfully ignorant [of] the bigger picture" in your own wordsmonospaced
- So you can't blame people here for making the comparison, especially when Microsoft started itmonospaced
- no, i generalized so i partially retract my statement.SteveJobs

pretty much,
I like building my own system, I enjoy messing with the inside of my babies, I still have pictures of a build I made 15 years ago,but every daam time someone ask for some advices (look at the hackintosh thread), you will get the neckBees coming out to to tell people to buy a mac instead, completely missing the fact that current pc builds are light years hahead of even the new mac pro and for a fraction of the price,
I tried the little beast and I liked it, why should I buy a fuckn mackbook air?

^ Speaking of that, any TWiT fans? Leo Laporte even decided to switch over their video operations to Premier and PC over the new Mac Pros. Saved $60,000 and got higher spec machines. Says workflow isn't too compromised (save the Premier switch) but time will tell.

The comparison to the Air is just logical, if a little to obvious.
They need market share, and the public is generally a little too far behind on how to use it. Air is a productive product, iPad is useless as a productive product but is portable (and everyone has one), so marketing the SP3 as a replacement for both makes sense.
That's what I want one for. No need for a powerhouse laptop, iPad is a glorified web/flipboard browser, so why not combine the two?
Like with the flat design of MS's phone software, it is just ahead of the times a little too much. Apple will come out with a tablet that has OS on it and everyone will call it some stupid break through.
- I feel like another thing Apple does well is include things like iMovie and Garage Bandmonospaced
- The free creative software makes them appealing toomonospaced
- hey! MS Paint can do amazing things too!!pango
- Dunno, that software means nothing to me and would be uninstalledformed
- and many families and children use that same software regularly for music and videosmonospaced
