^amen. I used to think it was the best site on the net. Then they ruined it with their redesign.
And now they are forcing yahoo log ins... fun times!

This is one of my faves - https://www.flickr.com/photos/to…
They have a really charming quality, partly down to the old school cam (1969 Pentax 6×7).The dude can make the most boring of subjects look great thanks to his MAAAAD composition skills. Lots fun shots too! :D

I personally love Flickr, I didn't use it much before a year ago so I don't miss the old design. I like to see the EXIF data, it's very helpful to learn what settings everyone uses and with what lens people shoot what. I also like that most people's shots are posted, users don't necessarily only post their "best" shots, this way I can get an idea of the process in a shoot.
It's a good place study all the different styles of editing too. I get ideas, sometimes I think of an old shot I have filed away that may have seemed boring at the time but when I see some interesting editing on a similar photo I can bust it out and experiment a little.
I do have a question for you guys. I notice a lot of you guys use some strong fade in your photos. Are you using Photoshop for this effect or does Lightroom have some quick controls for that too?
Here is mine: https://www.flickr.com/photos/hi…
- What do you mean by strong fade?whinger

- probably presets in LR. which I don't have any made. I feel like buying a pack would be sort of cheating.HijoDMaite
- Oh yeah, there are presets for that, in both LR and PS.whinger
- https://www.google.c… is one of many that will do this.whinger

I kinda dig the redesign too. I don't understand all the hate for it. People are too finicky. They let you store a shit ton of photos and the quality is better than instagram....AND it's free. Why u mad?
Anyway, Hijo I have like 5 goth presets I made in Lightroom to emulate an iPhone app I love called picfx. Their "PFX" filters are pretty cool. Those are mostly what I use. You can achieve that "fade" by playing with level curves in the develop mode.
- yeah I have a similar app called VSCOCam which has a lot but I need to learn to make them myself. then save them as presets.HijoDMaite
- they're not hard to make! just jump in and try.sublocked
