Heading there next weekend. Not a big group, just 4 of us. And we're not too rowdy of a group but definitely looking to eat, drink and be entertained.
Planning on winging a lot of it since we're such a small group, but looking for ideas. We're there Friday night til Sunday afternoon.
Haven't been there in about 15 years so I'm all ears.

Don't go to the strip clubs. They are really weak.

for eats, there are alot of great places. but a really good friend of mine opened up Mellow Mushroom- its a pizza joint on Oak street. super chill, as you would expect. great decor and food. you could even rent out the top floor if you want. if you go tell them anthony sent you.
- mellow mushroom is a chain-- and it's only been there for like 2 years. go someplace localsarahfailin

Hit up frenchman street. Burbon street is where tourists aka barely funcitoning drunks hangout. frenchman is where all the good music is.
as for food, tons of poboys (parkway tavern, Parasols, Domilise), muffaletta from central grocery, charbroiled oysters at dragos,
bands to see:
new orleans jazz vipers although i think they are called kotton mouth kings
washboard chaz
rebirth brass band
dirty dozen brassbanddba and spotted cat are my favorite bars
another thing to remember is that if you are at a place and not feeling it, ask for a togo cup and head out to the next place

- I was at a bachelor party in NOLA one year ago, and we rented a flat on Frenchman and partied at the Spotted Catmonospaced
- yep! frenchman st. is the best, imo. got tired of po'boys around bourbon. i don't like bourbon st.doesnotexist

I lived in NOLA for 8 years. Robotinc has the right idea.
Snugg Harbor is also on Frenchmen and is one of the best places to see music if you are willing to pay the $20 to get in.
Jacques-Imo's is GREAT cajun food uptown with a casual atmosphere.
The Columns Hotel Bar is on the St. Charles streetcar line and you can get a good cocktail and drink on their patio-- you'll feel like colonel sanders.
The Sazerac Bar is in the Roosevelt Hotel downtown; they invented the Sazerac (perhaps even the culinary cocktail itself), and it's the best place to get a real drink in the city. French 75 in the Quarter is a close second.
Po-Boys are best at Parkway Tavern Mid-city.
Drink Abita Beers.
DON'T PEE ON THE STREET. You can get away with murder, but don't pee on the street or you will go to central lock-up.Other Fine Dining:
Cochon, Stellas, NOLA, Dantes Kitchen (uptown for brunch),
Brennan's restaurants are overpriced, as are Emeril'sMimi's in the Marigny (bar) is a great divey spot that is not known to tourists but not far from Frenchmen and the Quarter.

Awesome tips. Figured NO wasn't the place for good strip clubs. Any bars we should definitely not miss at night? Anything else to do at night after we stuff ourselves with oysters and other seafood?

if you're looking for a more upscale meal I had excellent food here: http://coquettenola.com

Writing all this stuff down. Thanks again.
Coquette looks really good, but I think we want to do dinner at a more New Orleans-y kinda place. We're coming from Miami and LA so we get a lot of good food, but we're looking for some damn good seafood. There's a ton of tourist type restaurants, but any other fine dining places we should check out or are the touristy spots the good ones?

And where's a good crawfish boil next weekend? Also got a best oyster spot?
