When Galileo proclaimed that the earth orbits the sun, the Pope put him under house arrest for spreading an idea contrary to Catholic dogma. A later Pope tried to heal this rift between science and theology by directing the construction of an observatory within the Vatican.
Today, the Vatican Observatory is staffed by Jesuit astronomers. One of their missions is to search for evidence of extraterrestrial life.

Well I never said multiverse theory intends to answer everything, it's just a possible explanation for what happened immediately before the Big Bang. It's pretty clear that something did happen beforehand, and unless you think the Big Bang was a one off anomalous event, multiverse doesn't seem like a bad theory although it's just speculative at this point.
As detritus pointed out, the problem of a first cause is going to be there whether you invoke science, supernatural powers or the concept of God...so I don't see how a "conscious universe" or whatever thing it is you're proposing has a good answer to that.

@ Morningstar,
Not sure how you can claim to have a skeptical attitude towards mainstream science while simultaneously buying into this stuff. A guy who is head of the "Parapsychological Association" and believes in telepathy and psychic powers.
Like his friend Deepak Chopra, it seems like he takes legitimate scientific concepts and mixes them up with new age spirituality. A great way to sell books, but if there was any real application to his theories it would have been apparent a long time ago.

so lemme get this straight, son–
your idea is that because carbon is a great conductor, melanin has a lot of carbon, and black people have a lot of melanin in their skin, that black people must be good conductors... of something. the universe. also, you believe melanin allows black people to create physical matter by channeling spiritual energy to break apart molecular bonds in the body. therefore, by swallowing over $400 of plant melanin you bought on the internet you're going to become uber-african and have super powers– presumably the ability to manifest matter with plant-enhanced black people mindwaves.
do you have a parent or guardian who's looking for you?
