here's an output for an image field (ID)

Start by installing Advanced Custom Fields if you haven't already
( http://www.advancedcustomfields.… )I'm not sure, but I would go on and delete what's after line 17 on your functions.php (or at least comment it, just in case)
Create a new image field with the Field Name "excerpt_image"
Go to your post, add an image to the newly created field.and try this on your homepage template:
