Any cool cafe's, Bookstores, record stores or restaurants my wife and I should hit?
Last couple times we went, we saw mostly shrines and temples. Trying to see a few this time with fall colored leaves, but just like to relax at some cafes or something possibly...

the philosopher's walk has a couple nice cafes on the route, always makes for a good morning
the dojo guesthouse has a nice cafe at the main location, off gojo dori (only mention this 'cause i stayed there)
i don't remember any specific bookstores, but i'd keep track of things like the museum of contemporary art - it just so happened they had a 5 floor, 100 print exhibit of cartier bresson opening the week i was in town, and their calendar looked pretty spectacular.

maybe it's not so relaxed, but a train trip to Hiroshima if you haven't been there yet, it's worth!

Also if you go to Hiroshima I'd definitely take a trip to Miyajima Island. give yourself enough time to explore (we almost missed the last ferry!) but its truly amazing! :]

Can't rememebr what t was called but there's a lovely cafe (great green tea!) at the Fushimi Inari Shrine :]
