Very curious what that controller feels like.

does it work with ios7?

So used to having buttons layed out in a diamond on the left. Not sure how it would work to have them in the center. The idea of a track pad instead of thumb-sticks is very interesting though.

^ hate track pads, I put more pressure on it

they haven't announced a steam box as far as I can tell. that box was a prototype made by a separate company that was demonstrated earlier this year, Steam said they had nothing to do with it. They have said they are working with partners to create a variety of 'steam machines' though. The announcement today was just for the controller, which looks pretty cool, but no Steam Box... stop spreading misinfo!
- Valve said they weren't involved with the 'steambox' pictured that is.lodef

Check out gizmodo, steam box was announced by steam

Its not a 'steambox' they have announced, they are working with other companies to make a VARIETY of 'Steam Machines'. And I'm not being picky about the name, there's a difference. A 'Steam Box' would imply its a Steam console, like Valves answer to the xBox and Playstation, which isn't going to happen. What is happening and what they announced on weds. is are Steam Machines which will be PCs built especially on SteamOS. They are just working with hardware manufactures to make a bunch of living room orientated Steam PCs. Call them them SteamBoxes if you will but its not a Steam console that they are making. The so called Steam box you posted isn't one of them, Valve already distanced themselves from that this year.

This from the site sums up what I'm trying to say,
"Finally, a multiple choice answer... Entertainment is not a one-size-fits-all world. We want you to be able to choose the hardware that makes sense for you, so we are working with multiple partners to bring a variety of Steam gaming machines to market during 2014, all of them running SteamOS."
- they will be all be modable and hackable. way better than a console.lodef

I get the impression lodef is trying to make a point.

That controller looks very very interesting.
The bigger the negative knee-jerk reaction from nerds = the more likely this thing is going to shake things up.

Well, in any case, this SteamOS thing — like, oh ... what's the name of it again? Oh yeah: HALF-LIFE FUCKING 3 — is on Valve Time™. That means, we won't see it until 2027.

I have faith in the almighty Valve, they very rarely fuck things up.
- True. They just take forever and a day to do things.Continuity
