Hello,
I'd like to take the silhouette of an object and draw large calligraphic loops within that area. In Ps if i made a selection... that selection would act as a bounding box and would constrain the line. In Ai, "Masking" breaks the line outside the area; and if i manually draw up to the line it will lose its fluidity.
Is there a simple way of doing this in Ai that i'm overlooking (not hard to imagine as i'm no Ai rockstar)? Thanks in advance for any help.

The scribble filter can also do something similar
- good to know for the future. but in theory i want a more anticipated line.MrAbominable

Would there, is there, a way to have turned the silhouette into an Art Board and somehow confine the stroke that way too?

Create a shape, select it, change drawing mode to "Draw Inside" (shift+d). Essentially makes a clipping mask for you.
- Or maybe I'm not 100% understanding what you want to do... Need more coffee.duckseason
- i'm looking to have the line held within the "mask" rather than cut off beyond the mask. Constrained rather than clipped.

- Yeah, realized that after posting =/duckseason
- well, you showed me a new way to make a clipping mask. so there's that. xoMrAbominable
