Finally!
Just ordered a refurb D610 from Adorama. Been waiting since last summer, waiting to reward myself once I got a full time job. Starting a new full time role on Monday and ordered the camera today. So pumped to finally make this upgrade.
Got the 24mm 2.8 as well. Already have a 50mm 1.8 and probably getting the non VR 70-300mm just so I have a zoom lens around.
Going to sell my D90 and a Tamron 17-50mm 2.8.
- you will want VR on that tele photo bro. trust meHijoDMaite
- That's what I'm expecting. I do so little big zoom stuff. I might just wait to buy the VR.mg33
- or snag a good refurb.mg33

before you second mortgage your house for a 24mm F1.4 nikon, you might consider http://www.canonrumors.com/2013/…
- vaxorcist0
Calumet will rent you a lens for a deposit of 20% of the full price... also you might try lensrentals.com...

What I really want thought (someday...) is this:
http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon…- ay dios mio!ok_not_ok
- sweet, but for the price http://nikonrumors.c… is very nice...vaxorcist
- Yeah.. would be nice. Just not sure I can drop that right now. I just sold a guitar on ebay to put the $ towards a new camera eventually.mg33
- eventually. Might trade in my D90 and Tamron lens or try to sell it used as well.mg33

vaxorcist,
Can you confirm what the actual focal length is that I"m getting with a 17-55mm lens on a DX body? On an FX camera, I'd be fine if that actual low end (ex: if it's 24mm with a 24mm lens on FX). I guess it's easy to think "I have a 17mm lens at it's widest, therefore my widest angle on current camera is 17mm" when that's not actually correct, right?
- 1.5 so your 17-55 is about 26mm-like on FF but it's not quite that simple... 24mm FF seems much wider...vaxorcist

I'll say this - all the mental back and forth of DX vs. FX is madness. I had decided on the D7100 first for a while, then gravitated towards the D600. Didn't get a chance to test out the 7100. I guess I'm just thinking that if I'm making a significant upgrade, might as well go for the gusto.
- if you shoot wide, get FX, if you shoot telephoto, D7100 is very nice, near full-screen AF is great.70-200 2.8 like 105-300 2.8vaxorcist
- I like wide angle stuff. Only own a cheap old zoom, 70-210. I'd rent a long zoom if I needed one.mg33
- 24mm on a FF body is sweet, 600D with 24-85 is nice...FF & 24 2.8 prime is my fav though...vaxorcist
- The 24 would be just fine. My main lens on DX is Tamron 17-55mm, so that's 24mm at least on DX, right?mg33

If you want to go Nikon... refurb D600's with 24-85 are very cheap now... and very nice...

KEH and B&H have always been very good to me, I got a refurbished Nikon from National Camera in Minneapolis... http://www.natcam.com/ and I've had good luck with Cameta Camera
...note that I'm not a cosmetic condition freak, I test stuff and if it works well, that's all I need... but I'm hard on cameras, so I expect them to have issues every year or so, I often shoot a lot of shutter clicks on corporate jobs and the airlines bang things around in my luggage....

I'm in new camera mode right now but never considered buying a used one. Once I have the $, I"m going up to a D600 and possibly switching to prime-only lenses for a while. I have a 50mm 1.8 and I think all I want with a new camera is a 20mm 2.8. Tested one out on the D600 last week and it was awesome.
- D600 is very sweet...nikon's new 85 1.8-G is very nice too.... the 20mm 2.8 is an older design, but pretty good...vaxorcist
- We're going on vacation to LA, Big Sur, and SF next week. I REALLY want a new one before then...mg33
- http://nikonrumors.c…vaxorcist
- I have a D90 right now. Just ready for something with better features all around.mg33
- if you want to stay crop framed, the D7100 has amazing AF and refurbs are $999 or so http://www.ebay.com/…vaxorcist
- I thought about the D7100. Didn't get to test one out. Looks like a great camera, but for a few hundred moremg33
- (minus lenses) are out there for $1,400-ish.mg33

Do you want full-frame with old-style AF, or do you want crop-sensor with really good AF and not so good low light high ISO?
If you can stand the old style AF, the 5D mark 1 for $679.95 at that B&H link @ok_not_ok listed is quite a nice deal, spend the extra on lenses or E-TTL flashes...5D mark 1 and mark 2 had similar AF, the 5D mark III had much improved AF.... 5D mark 1 has no video though...
If you shoot moving stuff in bright light and want crop frame, like sports in the sun, the 7D has very nice AF, and video, but the sensor is noisy at higher ISO's and the skin tones on the original 5D are much nicer in my opinion, as a photographer who has worked with files from both...
sensor tests from dxomark:
http://tinyurl.com/canonscompare…also Canon is due for some new stuff according to canonrumors.com, so prices may drop on some used stuff, but no new 7D till 2014 supposedly...

If you buy a used one on ebay or such, ask for a test image from the camera and check the serial number of lens and body if this one is stolen or not.

Another little tip.
Buy the refurbished package with a kit lens when available. I bought a 50D a while back that came with a 28-135mm and sold the lens after the fact to save me even more money on the body.

I've bought one from B&H and it was in great shape. Like brand new with new shutter etc. Highly recommended.
You can also look on the actual Canon site if you're in the USA:
http://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/e…- Try and find info on their customer loyalty program too. Also only for the USA.moniker

I bought a few refurbished cameras/lens from Adorama for a great price and they work just fine. They also offer 3 year warranties, so you are pretty much covered. BH is reliable too. I'd go to whichever one has the cheapest price.

Hey gents,
I need to get a new camera as mine died :( Thing is, I am looking for a 7D but to be honest, don't want to spend $1500 on it. I've been thinking about getting a used/refurbished one from online selleres like BH, Adorama, Keh, etc.
Have any of you bought used cameras or equipment from these sources? If so, which one is the most reliable one? Any suggestions?
