I think the aim is more for countries with large amounts of starving people. This will give them a healthy diet that is easy to transport to the area.
- lol countries with large amounts of starving people can't afford $65/week for this shit._niko
- I don't think they would be paying for it. we would.dbloc
- dbloc who is "we"?ohhhhhsnap

Once this lot stop wanking into their socks and realise how impressed girls are by a home-cooked meal, the end will be nigh for their chemical slurry.

Will never understand this, just seems to be born out of some fussy eater borderline autistic who seems to find eating a chore.

i would rather suck cheese through an fucking old sock. One of the best pleasure in life is good food and you want people to give that up for some fucking pony space juice!?!?! Someone go and punch these dicks in the face... NOW.

IT'S PEOPLE!

ingredients and nutrition value over delicious food...pass
Seems like it would lead to and empty boring life

I am wildly fascinated by this. Gonna try it when it becomes available. Interesting that it has created such a media buzz... probably the slightly dystopic undertones...

@set NOBODY, even Rob Reinhart, will ever give up real food. Living exclusively off meal replacement shakes for months=sensory deprivation=depression. BUT as a convenient way to get, say, breakfast over with on busy days, without eating shitty junkfood=good solution IMHO...
- Yea it's called juicing or blending********
- Juicing is pretty inconvenient.jagara

I am going to do a kickstarter campaign for Soylent moulds - basically delicious food shaped moulds (burger / roastbeef) - you pour the soylent into them, pop in the freezer and voila - a healthy burger / roast.

i can see its medical uses... but beyond that i don't get why you wouldn't want to enjoy actual food. it's not hard or time consuming to make breakfast, i don't see how being "on the go" has anything to do with it

so upcoming generation will lose teeths. we will just need a tiny hole that can suck ... oh wait

This is most likely still giving you some things your healthy meal is missing, even if it's just one or two things. Plus, why is this a bad thing? If it's less time consuming and has the same if not more health benefits, that's a positive.

If you pay attention to the nutritional content of soylent compared to your average everyday meal, soylent, while lacking any soul, is effectively more nutritious and healthier for your body than anything else available as an instant meal, fast food, or average dinner.
Now feel free to state how you eat so healthy being only eat fresh organic fruits & vegetables as well as grain fed free range meat, well that's cool, this isn't for or even directed at you.
The idea of soylent is nothing new either. It is very similar to the likes of ensure and boost, whose intent is also to fill gaps in the average diet.
Running late? soylent.
Too busy and in the zone? soylent.
First date? actual food
Out with friends? actual food
Still playing WOW 39 hours straight? pass your soylent to your LAN buddy after you take a swig.it's actually easier to understand the benefits of soylent than the irrelevant hate it's receiving here. it's kind of like bitching about the sale of golf clubs because you don't play and think it's a stupid game.
- slow to fast claps to standing ovationohhhhhsnap
