So, TL, meh and, uh... amateur?
- Greenberg isn't amateur. I think these are genius.monospaced

You've heard of Jill Greenburg... speaking of crying babies, lighting and such....

- Similar stylemonospaced
- She appears to have really stuck with that style across a lot of her work.Wolfboy
- I don't even know if it's her, but if it is, yes, quite consistent.monospaced
- Yes, that's a Greenberg photo.nb

I really like the concept and what she's achieved in terms of the power of the images, but I'm not a fan of her heavy handed Photoshopping.
I went to see a show by Sam Taylor Wood a few years ago where she had got actors to cry for her and it was not a patch on this set of images.

I'm not sure you could find a purer expression of emotion in a portrait because as soon as you're old enough to understand what the camera does the emotion is diluted.
But 'put the filters down'.
- Sam Taylor Wood's work is art - not eye candy... Puleasefadein11
- All I know is there was good free booze & nibbles at the White Cube that night.Wolfboy
- ah white cube openings... i remember those (or not) :)fadein11
- Yup, on a good night there might be another couple of openings around Old Street.Wolfboy
- There's nothing quite like a good openings crawl.Wolfboy

I cannot believe what I am hearing... this concept and work is so dull and cliched. Its over stylised execution totally takes away from the power of the images. Strong emotion does not need overstyling.
I get what she is trying to do but it just doesn't work for me.
Lo-art becoming part of what she is critiquing I'm afraid.

^ Disagree. Strong emotion isn't exempt from enhancement.

these photos are old and jill greenberg has probably made millions off of them already. internet timeline fail

Extreme timeline, guys. These photos are more than seven years old. If you had seen them back then, you probably would have loved them like everyone else at the time did.
Also, learn something about photography before you complain about "filters". What filters are you talking about? She's using these crazy light setups with like 8 or 9 lights and just dodging/burning and colour correction as far as I can tell.
^ This post may seem like I'm a huge Jill Greenberg fan, but really I find her to be great but not my favourite photographs or anything like that.
I'm just so sick of people who do nothing complaining about everything. You look at photos from seven years ago and claim that the style is dated. Nice critique, genius. Now go back to your life of absolute insignificance.

Average idea, ugly lighting, over processed. Not my cup of tea.

Ugly filters.

Looks like some shit people would buy from Athena posters

"No children were made sad in the making of this horrendous concept."

Didn't we talk about this a few years ago on QBN?

Saw this a few years ago.
Thought it was a nice idea but not a big fan of the processing.I did like her monkey portraits book though. Bought it for a friend.
