^ i use FastSone too, pretty useful and it does get the job done, although the video codec (wmv which is basicly MPEG-4 AVC) can get pretty large on extended captures (couple hours). so some compression might be needed. (sorenson squeeze or even adobe does the job)

Just trying CamStudio at the moment, it doesnt seem to record mouse movement smoothly at all.

FastStone Capture is genius. even has the feature to automatically upload screen grabs via ftp then paste the link to the clipboard. it also records video with a host of options including a video editor which allows you to draw annotations, apply zoom effects and cut unwanted sections. 20bucks.
- if it's directx content; Fraps but not without a performance hit on the system. still a good option tho.antagonlsta
