while i have been enjoying some of these comic book films, superman is boring. where is the drama when your main character can't die or be hurt

I don't get the ChristopherNolean approach of comic book movies: Let's make it realistic (in a superhero universe? R.E.T.A.R.D.E.D.), let's make everything look average removing the personality of the cities, characters, etc and lets replace the superhero uniforms with motorbike outfits.
I also 'like' young clark kent fishing like popeye with Enya music in the background...? I preferred the one with Richard Pryor in it...

^ What I like about Nolan is he is a story guy, not a special effects guy. When I watched Avengers I wanted to throw up. There was so much shit going on in every frame, it felt so dated.
Nolan is a bit more of a tradition filmmaker. No extra shit that doesnt need to be there that doesnt serve a real purpose. I kind of appreciate that these days.
Its the same reason why I like simple flat design more than 2dvanced bullshit. This isnt a Nolan thing. There are many minimalistic directors out there, Its just that he was the first of them that tackled a comic book movie, thats all. And it obviously worked. Between the 2, they made like 2.5 billion or something.
- Coen Bros come to mind as minimalistic, but never made a comic book movie.CygnusZero4
- Yeah, let's give Nolan the next Simpsons real actors movie, just cant wait to see his story telling in that one.Fatal
- Justin Bieber worked as wellFatal
- Like you said is the same issue with Flat design: it's not always the right approach and it doesn't work for every single client.Fatal
