Any of you guys in the U.S. every try online poker with real money? Was thinking of trying my hand at some small stakes, but found that there's some embargo on the US on most sites. Was curious to know if anyone has done it from here - and if so - could they recommend a service?

huge waste of time and money.

Think of all the pros, they have career earnings of a few million dollars with sponsorships ect, but they are a handfull, the average player wins jack shit and spends thousands of hours doing fuck all.

use that time and energy doing something productive. Create something, invent something, write a song, whatever, there are far more important and productive things to do with your time.

It's frustrating as hell and especially online it comes down to dumb luck.

Don't mean to rant, it's your spare time you can do whatever you like with it but i come from a long line of gamblers and i've seen furst hand how destructive it can be.

    • But you can try bwin, bodog, pokerstars, full tilt, partypoker, 888 ect_niko
    • you'll probably need to hide your ip though_niko

Thanks for the concern - I used to have a weekly game I'd go to - but I've been restricted to my house due to health issues for the last few months. To your point about doing creative things with my spare time, of which I have a fair amount, I'm in total agreement. I've been keeping busy by doing work with my agency, freelance, partnering with a startup - and very busy working on a great idea with a fellow QBB'er.

With all that - I need some relaxation too. I have a few hobbies, but most require I be outside. Poker has always been a source of enjoyment for me - I've tried the free versions, but I realize its just not as fun if you don't have any skin in the game. I plan on VERY LOW stakes.

    Appreciate the concern though!

    • if you play micro stakes- it's hard to beat the rake. you need to be at .50./1 minimum and play with 45x max buy ins for proper bankroll management.BH26

online poker is illegal in the states atm.

i've been playing online for years. tbh low-stakes is a drag, but you have to start somewhere i guess. play for fun, with money you can afford to lose. if you happen to be good and make some profit now and then it's a bonus.

if you are able to play, look into bankroll management before you start. understanding those basic principles will go a long way...
