Anyone tried using an Ipod touch as their main phone?
I've been using one of these:
For years to avoid having a smart phone. Not into the price and I don't need the internet in my pocket. I sit in front of it all fucking day.
Not sure how feasible it is to just use skype or googlesomethingsomething in place of phone.
I live in a city (Portland) and when I'm in the woods, I'm with at least one other person with a smart phone.

well you need wifi for Skype to work, so unless you're tethering to a phone that allows it, in the woods, then you may have a problem.
- I don't need a phone in the woods or I use my friends phone (is what I was trying to say)grafiske
- well, when not in the woods as long as you have a stable wifi signal you'll be goldprophetone

maybe this is an option, can't vouch for it but looks interesting

I have a prepaid phone and an ipod touch. uhmmm probably not going to happen as you need a number. I facetime/skype and use apple messages with people I talk to the most and understand to use it... whilst I simply have to have a number for other people and business.
The ipod touch is a nice one to have to run apps and such though.

So, in order to avoid having a smartphone you'll get a smartphone stripped off its phone functionality and are looking for a way to make it a phone?
- that's what I was thinking too, but I didn't want to say it because everyone would just insult memonospaced
- Hey mono...albums
- Fuck 'em.albums
- it's about working with what you have.ohhhhhsnap

Anyone know how I can turn my fridge into a microwave?
Not massively into microwaves but would love a fridge that basically does what a microwave can do.
Jizz!

iPhones are cheap now dude. Just get an older model and sell your ipod touch on ebay.
Otherwise you'll be stuck using pinger/skype. I actually did that when I was in Japan since I didn't have cell service, and it worked OK - but again, only where there's WIFI
