iOS 6 Photo Importing

Anyone know of a way to sort photos after importing? The last iOS simply organized them by alphabet. Extremely annoying (especially since you can't import subfolders), but it was at least consistent.
I don't want an app to have to go to (though if there was one that could replace Apple's photos, or at least sync with imported files - I don't want to manually organize, I have apps for that)
Suggestions? Quick searches conclude that this is a bug with iOS 6, did they really screw this up to?

Importing to iOS, or importing photos to your computer FROM iOS?

As far as I can tell one can't custom sort the "Camera Roll" which is sort of a master list of all photos on the device.
But you can sort any custom album you create (which includes photos from Camera Roll). So create a custom album, put whatever you want in it and then you can sort using the finger push and hold as you would when managing apps.
I hope that makes sense.

I am importing files from iTunes, from a Windows 7 machine.
I don't want to create 'custom folders', that's the point, I am importing a few thousand photos in about 50 folders.
It used to work before iOS 6, horribly, but it worked.
Just found an app called Photo Manager Pro, gonna give it a try

Photo management in iOS has always been a disaster.

Yeah, but now it is unusable. It was horrible before, but now it is useless.
Anyone try the Windows machines?

How does everyone organize their photos?
Seems like a crucial piece of an iPad...
(update on the app - you still need to create new folders, then upload, then you can organize however. More or less useless for importing photos and are already organized, though)
