Interesting.

One feature I like from Android 4.2 is multiple user profiles, each with their own settings, music, etc. I need that shit today on my iPad but Apple instead wants me to buy another iPad for my girlfriend it seems.

iPad Mini for the girl?
: )
The lack of a LOG IN screen always perplexed me from iOS devices, but my family also has various devices instead of a singular device as a result...
- I think because they're personal tablets, not multi-user computers.monospaced
- A 10 inch tablet should have multiple profiles, smaller ones or cellphones those are more personalernexbcn
- right, you're right... you know more about tablets and what they SHOULD have than anyone else in the businessmonospaced
- that's why Android is so much better, absolutely destroying the competitionmonospaced

Also, the Nexus 4 phone starts at 299€ not attached to any operator.

My coworkers and I switch between users on our team iPad regularly. I have my apps, mail, settings, etc and when they want to use it they just plug it into their computer and re-sync. A couple minutes later it's their iPad with all their stuff.
- Nice "hack"... : )ideaist
- that might work on an office but it's practical at home when you came from work and are in the couchernexbcn
- not practical I meant, you need to boot another computer and plug it, beyond cumbersomeernexbcn
- I never said it was a hack. I'm just saying it does work. I'm also saying Android is better because they allow instant user-switchingmonospaced
- instant user switching. They make Apple look like fucking retards.monospaced
- that doesn't sound fucking annoying at all...animatedgif
- OH HANG ONanimatedgif

@monospaced I'm not implying that I know what's best for everyone, I'm just saying Android 4.2 and the Surface tablets have it, so why iOS shouldn't, it's something I could use today.
I have an iPad 3 and share it with my girlfriend, it would be great if it had multiple user profiles so we all have our email, facebook, twitter apps and saved games, etc. personalised.
It's not rocket science. I don't own any Google devices we have 2 iMacs, 1 Macbook Pro, 2 iPhones and 1 iPad at home. So we are pretty much Apple fans, but these other devices are starting to look interesting.

@ernexbcn, I'M not implying that iPads are better either, I'm not arguing in ANY way, so don't make that assumption. Android rules, as you know. Each 10" Android tablet has user switching and it's fucking rad and if Apple doesn't do it they're just going to get worse and worse and eventually die. It's simply a matter of time.

- LOLmonospaced
- I'm dead serious, kinda. The feature is fucking awesome, I agree. I don't think Apple is threatened though.monospaced

@monospaced yeah of course it's not a critical feature, they can keep doing fine without it.
Google has to be selling these things at less than profit, the 8GB Nexus 4 phone not tied to a phone company for 299€, the cheapest iPhone 5 is 669€ here (16GB though). But still, the 16GB Nexus 4 I think it's 349€
- I didn't say it wasn't critical. I said it was RAD. I am AGREEING with you. What the f?monospaced
- I know! it was a misunderstanding earlier, no worriesernexbcn

@ernexbcn Yes, Google is selling these and losing money on each one. It's their way of pushing into the market, and it's working. It's not the best way to make money (obviously), but it does promote sales.
- Not just them, either. Amazon and Samsung and whomever is losing. Only MS seems to price to profit.monospaced

yes I like these. Nexus 4 looks good. Shame no 4g and shame no 32gb.

I worked on this launch. Played around with the products for quite a while. Took about three days for me to fully understand what to do and how to get around on each device (mostly because I'm used to apple). The UI is a bit rough, but they work pretty well and could see them improving on updates. I wish the products were at least all done by the same manufacturer though.

Oh, and the display on the 10 is pretty damn stunning.
