Anyone have any experience with 4 color process silkscreen?
If you take a photo and separate it in photoshop, do you always have to bitmap it? What's the best setting for this where there is the most detail?

Yes, I've done this a lot. What I've learned from MY experience is that it's not my/your job to create any separations. The screen printers have all explained that they do that on their end because it's their printing equipment. And anyway, creating reliable print screens in Photoshop is a nightmare.

- @fred if you're doing it DIY, don't forget to account for your mesh when figuring line screen.hellobotto

Good shops have pro / paid for separation actionsets for photoshop or other apps.. plugins that do it based on the screens they'll be using, how much detail is in the work, and the final intended print.
If the shop is asking you to do it for them, the chances of it looking good on the final print are not optimal.

I have art silk-sceened, CMYK on CDs all the time. Not an issue.
- Do you separate in Photoshop with individual bitmaps?monospaced
- No. I treat the file the same way as if printing on paper. the only difference...Gnash
- is that you have to watch colors with less than 10% ink.Gnash

I was going to do it myself and print on transparencies. Maybe not.
