video compression question

I have a video that will be projected quite big. Unfortunately it was rendered with quite a lot of compression. Is there a tool about that will soften or remove some of the compression artifacts?
Its flat colours and geometric shapes so I would imagine it may be possible as imagery is quite simple.
Any pointers or is this just impossible once rendered?
    Thanks in advance.

Short answer pretty much impossible once rendered. Sorry pal :'(

Shit in shit out I'm afraid.

Long answer if you had the time you could do a few things like masking areas tracking new colour solids back on etc. etc. but this takes lots of time and is a ridiculous amount of effort. And it's all dependant on the type of footage in the first place.

You could also potentially colour key out some of the areas and then replace them with other colours etc. etc. but it's going to be a pain in the rump old pal.

If you have no ability to re-render then you will have to spend a large amount of time fixing it.

If you send me a small excerpt from the video I can probably give you a quite accurate answer with possible solutions if any.

    • thanks for the response - I suspected as much. Its not horrendous just wanted abstract shapes to be crisper but a lot of fuzz on edges. But thanks anywayfadein11
    • on edges but there is a lot of fuzz. oh well. no way of rerendering so will live with it. thanks againfadein11

there are some plugins that claim to be good for up-ressing, but honestly what chossy said is the reality.... for good results it's either going back to a higher res source, or a ton of manual labour.
