why does my logo making process suck?
I have to meet in two hours with my client and I don't have anything. It's for a bike shop and I'm trying to avoid all of the cliche things done with bikes, chain's, sprockets, etc.
I haven't even opened up illustrator yet. Just working on sketches... trying to follow the same formula. I've totally wrecked my brain the past two days and I'm not making anything on it :/

it doesn't need anything bike related in the logo.
pick a nice typeface that complements the name of the shop and the type of bikes it will sell. maybe some interesting color combinations.

two hours?? jeez. how do you retain clients with that kind of work ethic.

maybe take a look at the competition

everyone,
let's help the bloke, open illustrator and design away

emergency strategy: just bring your sketches (so client will see that you have thought about it) and engage him in some kind of brainstorming process... sell it as close-relationship-taking-the-cl... Outcome may be horrible though.

perhaps it's time to come clean to your client instead of seeking solace on the internetz....either that or steal an idea, repackage it as your work....and profit

just call and say you got hit by a bike
problem solved :P

I think you have an advantage when designing for bicycles, as there are so many physical parts on the bike that can be illustrated in a nice or clever way... as opposed to a client with an intangible service.
Wheels, cranks, chainlinks, etc. Don't be afraid to use these things. Try to integrated them in with the type if you can. Use these components creatively.
I think these are nice. They can be simple, too.
- yeah these are my fav's to... been thinking subtle lately. thx for the help!fourth

miesfan,
will be mtn and road as he is in a location where people go ride both. Starting out focusing on repairs and parts, and then will eventually sell bikes....

Draw a bike. Now remove the front wheel. There you go, a bike repair shop's logo.

Perhaps try not reïnventing the ..er.. wheel?
