Anyone have one or the other of these and can shed any light on performance?
Looking for a wireless speaker with good sound but the Beolit 12 is so goddamn pricey.

Best recommendation I can make is to invest in some outstanding powered monitors and an Airplay Device. This allows flexibility in the system and upgradeability as well. The AudioEngine 5s are amazing and you can easily pair them with an Apple TV or Express to make them wireless. Saves lots of money and sounds just as good, if not better than 'Bose' sound.
- only drawback is that they do require some cablemonospaced

Had a look at AudioEngine. Interesting stuff. Completely forgot about Airport Express! Thanks mono.

I got my girlfriend a pair of the smaller Audioengine 2s because the reviews were incredibly good and she wanted a wireless solution (paired with the Express). Not only were the little buggers good, they blew away most larger speakers, churning out more rich, flat response sound than should be physically possible from drivers that small.
What I hear is that the 5s are the same thing but larger and more powerful. If this is true, they're probably jaw-dropping performers and the bamboo option (shown above) is supposed to improve things further. I think I may get a pair myself.
