Given the movie's just a protracted chase sequence with murder, I'm struggling to see how it could ever have been a novel at all.

Saw the movie the same day after finishing the book. I thought the movie was visually boring and stark. They could've done a better job with all of the characters– they just all seemed too teeny bopper and clean. and of course a lot of details are omitted to condense it in a movie.
- A lot of details, but nothing important. It was pretty boring though.i_monk

The movie is a really faithful adaptation. The movie changes a few minor things, and you don't have to endure the main character's endless self pity and introspection and angst, but unless you're a hardcore fan you might find it kind of boring because you know exactly what's going to happen.
- Faithful except for the hunger pain and suffering. Too MTV compared to book.monospaced

Has anyone read the book AND seen the movie? How do they compare?
