Hubble is going to be retired in a few years.
NRO, a spy agency is offering NASA two hubble-quality satelites for free.

The privatization of the the satellite race began in 1989 when McDonnell Douglas launched a private satellite for a British TV company. I believe in the privatization of such things because shareholders will continue to demand results instead of pilfering the account all government like.
