styleguide can mean a million things between 2 pages of loose orientation up to 1 million details precisely defined. ultimately the client has to make up his mind about what he needs the styleguide for and/or what he's willing to pay for in terms of documentation.

It's a document to help them make changes to the site in the future without you. It's to ensure new content feels consistent with your design. It's a framework grid, styles, etc.
