seen that for years now.
It shocks me everytime. I think companies are really trying their luck. Sadly there are people who will go for jobs like this.
Haven't wages sucked over there for quite a while now?
Everyone plays fast and loose with the 'Senior' and job titles here in general. I've seen posting for Art Directors for 40K.
Part of this comes from kids coming out of school doing two freelance gigs and then proclaiming themselves an 'art director' even though they've only worked on their own and never actually directed or managed anyone.
Agree. A lot.
Far too many people with one or two years max experience claim to be Senior Designers or Art Directors, when at best they're a decent middleweight.
Luckily most of them got found out...
However, in general, I find disturbing that many mid-weight digital PMs (2 years' experience) are on the same money than proper senior designers...
"Art Director with 6 years of experience, born 1992"
Does seem a bit low especially for london.
It's a Digital Designer position and they are only asking for an "understanding" of HTML, CSS & Flash not being a wizard so I guess it's kinda fair.
What gets me is when places offer less money but expect you to be a designer and hardcore programmer in lots of languages, flash and to know all about wordpress/drupal building etc.
Now THAT is unrealistic!
I'm a senior, I have 8 years' experience.
I guess it depends of your definition of senior, and how many levels of positions there are. We only have designer, senior then design director, above that is creative director
this old chestnut again
Perhaps its a case of too much supply these days. Companies know they can get away with making their staff work late and weekend because they know someone else is willing to take the job.
