Who here is "stuck" in something for your career/job that you want out of? What's holding you back from taking a new direction? Change? Fear? Security where you're at?
Do you have big things you want to pursue? Do you think they're within reach but just not sure of the struggle to get there?
The "Where You At?" thread really made me think about these things.

I've always thought about going into the porn industry, not sure how to go about it but it plays on my mind regularly.

@mono - don't let $ stop you from starting out... i think that having none at the outset is what helped us to succeed. clawing for every inch of ground, we're a lot better of today for it. we would have turned down a lot of clients that have turned into big business if we had the security early on.

@bjl - thanks for the encouragement!
I'm at a company now that rewards employees for sticking around for a set amount of time. If I finish that tenure, I walk away with a fat chunk, but if I leave now, I get only a small portion. Their investment "vests" in other words, and that's what I'm waiting for. Oh, I also need to find the right person/people do do this with.

I don't know if I'd say "disenchantment" for myself... I'm just at a point where even though I like what I do, that excited-to-get-up-in-the-morning feeling is often based more on longer-term dreams that have very little with what I'm doing now. Uninspired maybe... and more excited/inspired about a big idea in my head and just wondering if/when I can take a stab at making it a reality.
You and I are probably in similar mindsets, mono.

Fear usually stops us from doing a lot of things in life, but there is one thing that is even worst. Regret.
You definitely don't want to be looking back for the rest of your life thinking why did I not do it.
Also just like Steve Jobs said... "If you haven't found what you love doing yet... keep looking".

Get paid & have hobbies.

Failure is temporary. Regret is forever.
I've tried a few careers. Some were good money and not so fun, some were fun and not so good money.
Stay at home dad is the best gig yet. Good job if you can find it.
