Glad someone got to posting this here :)

for some reason i feel more compelled to not watch this than to watch this. I'm thinking the only reason i feel this way is because every person on facebook has something to say about it. I'm really feeling like I may be better off not watching it.

Spread it!

While I did post the KONY 2012 video last night, I have only pledged my email address. It is a worthwhile video to spread, but please do all your research before you start blanketing the internet with your next "good cause" and certainly before you open your wallet. For starters here is a good article by Alex Miller at VICE with some interesting criticisms.
- < this was for my FB people, I know you guys do your research. :)HijoDMaite

In response to that article, (In my opinion of course) There whole video wasn't begging you to give them money though. It was more about spreading the word and making it known. As for over exaggerating about Kony, hell if the guy did this just to a handful of kids he should still be put to justice.
- I do agree about doing research before handing over money though.iheartfun

spread the effort over many issues rather than focussing one one
- you ever tried to pay 6 debts of at once? It doesn't work. Focus on one then move on to the next.moniker
- children dying in many wars - liberia for example... spread the lovefadein11
- and for the record i am paying 7 debts off bit by bit currently and its working finefadein11
- off topic. Look into snowball debt repayment. IT WORKS!!!moniker
- ah sounds interesting. thanks. never heard of it before.fadein11

At this stage of the movement, the organizers are clearly more concerned with raising awareness than raising capital. They seem to have their strategy in order, and it appears they don't need money as much as they need people to be pushing their governments to get involved and stay involved.

did feel a bit like a promo reel for his son's acting career...
- fadein110
his voice made me turn it off
- fadein110
if anything it will make Amnesty etc. step up their game... but can't help feeling such a global effort could be used on a wider issue or group of issues not just one.

Although its a great cause, it feels like a nike ad and something about the way this guy talks makes me want to vomit in my mouth a little. Its like... good cause = soapbox for spouting righteous diatribe. I don't feel compelled to do this "cover the night" crap because he pours so much of himself into it that it's almost like "his" cause, not Uganda's cause. Whatever. Maybe that's a plightless white cinematographer's journey — adopt a cause to find validation. It feels ingenuine, even though it's about a genuine problem.
Kony comes off as naughty rebel who needs to be "brought to justice" instead of a feared war criminal, which illustrates just how detached it all is. We went to Uganda. We made friends on camera. We talked about scary things. We came back to the states and edited some footage. Fuck off.
But also: Fuck That Kony guy
- this guy makes a video for the world.. and you post some stupid shit to nobody.. makes me say hmmmmmmmmbliznutty
- If it's a video to the world, I'm entitled to a reaction.cannonball1978

"Is awareness good? Yes. But these problems are highly complex, not one-dimensional and, frankly, aren’t of the nature that can be solved by postering, film-making and changing your Facebook profile picture, as hard as that is to swallow."
"...If you want to post about Joseph Kony’s crimes on Facebook, go ahead. But let’s keep it about Joseph Kony, not KONY 2012."
