What screen width are peeps designing to these days?
I'm still doing 960px and its looking narrow.
I know there is responsive and I have looked at the stats but what do people use?
I'm ready to go one size up on a project as it will really help.
Interested to see what people are doing.

How risky is it to go wider?
sidescrolling awful I know.
Perhaps I should just do a fluid layout but that has its drawbacks...

this site got me thinking as it was wider:

but its responsive - banner shrinks when width reduced.
responsive is the way forward but not the budget on this job...

All about adaptive layouts, responsive design and media queries these days.
http://www.smashingmagazine.com do it pretty well - resize the browser & refresh to see.

I used to do 960 but I'm all about 1140px wide + using a responsive layout. It's a PITA but well worth the work, although I laugh at how often I'm grabbing the browser window and going back and forth with it's width

960px is still the standard width, okay I usually push it to 970px.
