recommend a good alternative to adsense?

  Can anyone recommend a good alternative to google adsense?
  I have built up a reasonable amount of hits to my site, but not getting too many clicks based upon the number of visitors - which I am looking to improve on.

  I wondered if I used another ad click service that allowed me to tailor the type of content in the ads a bit more if this would improve.

  So would anyone recommend a good alternative to google adsense?

  I could do with a good recommendation as every time I google I just get a load of spam sites. I have been checking out sites to see what they use, but could do with some good examples
