Raster PDF?

When you submit portfolio .pdf's or pitches, do you usually rasterize the artwork first?

If you've got lots of Illustrator effects and transparency in the artwork, yes. Otherwise, in my experience, they can do odd things in different viewer versions and OSs. Straight vector logos not necessarily/always. And I usually set the initial view size. I'm not a fan of PDF portfolios unless you are presenting it yourself and can control the view.

No. Unless the above, or you just have a ton of layers of graphics in general in your pdf and need it to be a smaller size. Otherwise your just gonna lower the quality.
Pretty sure PDF uses JPG compression for images, so rasterizing everything is in effect turning it into a jpg.
