notes: don't trust too many people because you WILL get robbed, better to trust only fellow travelers. ideally, travel in packs. don't look at a shop keeper's goods UNLESS you buy something as they do get mad if you just browse and not buy. go with an near empty travel bag you will want to buy tons of goods in the souks. when travel by train, pay extra for "first class" men and women are separated. the leather is in Fez, Marrakesh is super nice. you will have a blast, don't get conned into buying a rug, you will have to lug it around. and again, becareful who you trust.
- LOL, I can totally see you walking around with a goddammm rugGeorgesII

fes is tremendous. make sure you go to the tanneries early. two reasons - less tourists, and the smell isn't so strong. find the real entrance (where the skins go in), slip the bloke 20dirhan and you can wander around in amongst it all.
eat at Restaurant Dar Hatim if you can find it (though the owner will come and get you) for traditional foods, cafe clock for a rooftop western-friendly hippie boho chill-out
- while i totally agree with robotron3k about not trusting anyone the poeple of fes were the friendliest and most helpful. shopkeepers were fine if you looked and didn;t buyhans_glib
- shopkeepers were fine if you looked and didn't buy. they only got stroppy if you didn't look.hans_glib
- these guys are only trying to make a living after all... and you're the 1st-worlder with all the moneyhans_glib

If you ask for help, expect to pay.
In Marrakesh, if you're going to the Djemaa el Fna square to eat, watch out for stuff you haven't ordered being put on the table as 'appetizers'...even if you don't touch them, expect to pay.
Take notes of where you're staying...you'll get lost.
We did the night train from Marrakesh to Tangier....it was awesome.
Watch anybody acting like an 'assistant' to an official....we nearly lost our passports to a guy who was 'helping' at the ferry terminal. All he did was take them from the girl who sold the tickets, put the tickets inside and then wanted money before he handed them back.
Overall it was an amazing place...but at every chance, people will try to f**k you over.

We are going with a group of people. The who thing is organized by Gap Adventures. We did a Thailand tour with them and it was amazing.

Say "Salaamun Uhlaykuhm" to get extra kudos from locals. I wrote the pronounciation or just say Salaam.
