I have seen a few examples of business card edge printing in a solid colour. any examples of edge printing a pattern?

I'm really intrigued about what pattern you can fit in just under half a millimeter.

you'd need a bloody thick business card to be able to print a pattern on the edge!

Most solid colours are created either by airbrushing in batches (can create nice gradient effects) or by triple layered paper stocks (sandwiching a thick colour stock with thin white/black - this also allows for some embossing effects).
Find a thick colour stock that is already patterned - or create one yourself - and sandwich it with another stock, then diecut.
This can get expensive fast, haha.
