Does anyone know how to get a PC user to check and see if they have a local database of their email? My client is Chicago, and I'm on a Mac and have zero network administration skeelz.

they'll lose all their emails won't they?

we tried dealing with this ourselves on our first few big site migrations a couple years ago - and ran into a lot of problems. lost emails mostly.
since then, we've found that paying people to do what they know saves everyone time and money - and headaches. we stick to design. it's worked out well and have had no problems since. and, when we spell out site migration and email migration fees in the quotes - people are more than happy to pay.

I'd migrate them to Google Apps, $50/year, you can setup your own domain to point to it, and they have email migration / upload tools, etc...
BUT if they have, like 20 gigs of old email, lots of file attachments, contacts,etc... beware, I'd hire somebody, and be willing to pay a TON... it can take a very, very long time.... and some customers have NO IDEA that this can be rather difficult... as you're migrating their whole business record, not just "some email"

So it would be better to host with their original email host, Network Solutions?
