How do you make text go to the far left of a text box in InDesign?
ex. I want the letter to start at the left:

^ It's never perfectly flush left.

^ the first letter never starts EXACTLY at the beginning of the box, there's some space automatically.

I know exactly what you're talking about. No workaround. You can use the "Story" palette to set a sort of optical margin alignment, but even then you'll have that tiny gap. The only way to move it over is to move the whole text box so your type aligns with a guide.

Fonts have a metric called Sidebearings to help with kerning. That's the space you are seeing.

and every font behaves differently too.

Can't think of a setting to automatically fix it...
except outline text then align to guide when finishing the design...
just gotta know what you're doing with that.
