We have a lot of files (eps mostly) that go around in our office, and having the ability to embed a consistent set of metadata in them would be very helpful.

I've heard you can do custom metadata via XMP using flex. But is there a way to create a templated group of metadata fields similar to IPTC or DICOM (but on a smaller scale)? ...and distribute it in a way so that any user of say illustrator or photoshop can write this metadata into their files or read it without learning new software?

Bridge seems to only use existing metadata fields - you cant create new ones (much less a whole set of new ones). Any other software that would allow this? Maybe this could be accomplished via an illustrator plugin? Any thoughts?
