quick Adobe Premiere questine

I use this program a lot (i guess) but never came across this situation as surprising as it seems to me. dealing with a lot of short clips and chopping them up a lot, all the clips are very very similar to one another, my questine is, where does it mark footage as "used" in the project window (or anywhere else for that matter) so I dont use it again. In the past ive always wondered but always managed without it. but in this case, with this footage its kind of essential.
Im very embarrassed to ask this because its probably been right in front of my face for years and just looked past it.

no luck on google on this today or in the past, im guessing its either because its so obvious and im the only retard who doesnt know or premiere doesnt have the option and im the only retard who needs this option.

source monitor>>timeline highlighted grey = used footage.

You can remove assets you haven’t used in a Timeline panel from the Project panel.
Do one of the following:Sort the Project panel List view by the Video Usage or Audio Usage columns to identify unused clips, and then select and delete them.
Choose Project > Remove Unused.
