Anybody tried the Glidecam 2000 pro on a 5D?
I think the DIY options could be a bit of a waste of time unless you know what you are doing. In this case I really don't.

http://14dollarstabilizer.org/ I bought the $40 kit a couple years ago and left it with a friend in SF, does a good job, not perfect but better than nothing on no budget

odd but effective....
mount camera on a tripod head, screw it on a lightstand, bungee cord a weight to the bottom of the light stand,(pull the top up of the lightstand, 3-4 feet....but do not open the legs) and then hold the lightstand just below the camera. You can walk smoothly with this keeping your camera flat and your arms are the steadicam.... works with a wide lens walking inside or outside if you practice and wear tennis shoes...
