UPS Charges to Big Companies?

I had some posters printed up. The shipping charge was only $7 and the package was 1.5kg.
I ordered from a US company, but they're printed in India turns out. They were shipped next day and arrived in 3 to the US.
I'm wondering how much this cost them to ship? If I sent something like that through UPS, it would cost a ton more.
Do they save a lot of money due to volume?

Yeah, they do. I worked for one of the largest motorsports distributors in the US and the rates they got on UPS were insanely cheap.

that's a bit of a corporate secret, it seems many companies don't want you to know the details of this, so they can profit, or at least recoup other costs on shipping....
For some clients, they actually insist that we use "their" fedex/ups account numbers, as they are very aware of how much cheaper it is for them than us little design shops...
