Anyone use them?

[SVG] Scaleable Vector Graphics..
hmm yes that seems like a vector file to me..

Would it be bad to use one for my logo on my website?

The use of SVG on the web is still limited by the lack of support in older versions of Internet Explorer (IE) which (as of December 2010) is the most widely-used browser (but not as widely-used as Firefox and Chrome together). The most widely deployed version of IE (version 8) does not support SVG.

it's hard to use, doesn't act like a raster file, i found it quite annoying to put a transparent one right where you want it

Any particular need to use an SVG file as opposed to .gif, .jpg, or .png?

A crisper logo. Nothing too particular. Just wondering if people actually used .svg's.

SVG would only really be useful if you had some kind of data visualization or dynamic imagery. In that case you could use it in the place of Flash to create dynamically generated vector graphics.
This shows some good uses of SVG:
Otherwise, just use an image file and stop trying to be special:)
