don't know the full story, apart from what i've read in this thread obv. but... shouldn't you give the ad firm the opportunity to settle with you before contacting the final client directly? you said it's complicated... this could get even more so and ugly...
- Yeh, I've been trying to get payment for over 6 months. I gave up, but then saw the printed ads...luckyorphan

Hmmm... "Yeh...on the fence on that one. Technically, they don't owe me money, as they didn't ask for the work."
Just saw the explanation of the comment above and now I'm left wondering who you had the contract with - the end client or the firm that hired you? Whoever it is that is who you deal with, otherwise you're just blowing smoke up someone's arse. The contract is the thing. Check the T&C's - any clause if there that says "all/any work submitted is owned by us" and you could be sucking wind.
In the interim:
Good luck...
- that clause would probably null and void due to non payment.Amicus

yes, the client don't owe you anything... the firm that hired you does.
if you contact the client directly you're gonna cause one hell of a shitstorm.- so it'd be best for the firm to pay you, otherwise a designer has to contact the client for the money?********
- he was contracted as a 3rd party, not directly by the client.********
