Is GitHub reliable?

I'm weighing the positives and negatives of remotely hosted JS files (on GitHub) vs. locally hosted files (on my host's server).
This isn't for a huge site or anything, just my folio.
Anyone have a thought on this?

I understand the logic behind linking frameworks from Google, where there's a chance your required file is cached in-browser anyway.
Otherwise - what's the advantage in adding a remote request to a non top-tier site?
Just slows things down, no? And what about when their site is down?

honestly, just host your files on your server,
it will save you some major headache in the future,

1. GitHub is reliable.
2. If you need to host jQuery use Google hosting
3. if it's your personal JS files host it on your server- That google bit... I assume you mean: https://ajax.googlea…sisu

Why would you do that?

Hosting all externalised JS/CSS/images on your own server = peace of mind.

why would you want to do that?

Interesting to hear everyone's responses.
I'm going with locally-hosted JS files and Google-hosted JQuery. This is what I was leaning toward but wanted to hear what others thought.
Thanks all.

GitHub is for source control...if "remotely hosted js files" means you'll be including them in a live site - GitHub is not the answer. If it means hosting your code project so others can contribute, yes it could be a good option.
