Every couple months I see a message at the top of the site from Jimmy Wales. Since they refuse to sell out and put ads all over their site I guess they can't really afford to support the site.
Isn't that guy wealthy enough to run a damn website without money from people? How many employees could they possibly have? The site is edited by members.
Just seems strange to me.

It just comes across like he's begging. Im not denying that they might need money. Little confused about that since I would think this guy is somehow wealthy, but there has got to be some way for one of the most popular sites on the internet to make some money without begging for it.

I guess I respect him for sticking to his gun on this, he doesnt want the site to turn into some disaster with ads all over the place, but for as popular as this site is, cant they just have 1 little ad something?
Not of that crazy flash bullshit all over. But I would think even with just 1 ad they would make a fortune off that.

As far as I know you only have "Advertising", "Affiliate Marketing", "Product Creation", "E-commerce", "Online Service Business" available...
none of them would be a good fit to keep it as the worlds encyclopedia...
Just to add, I think Wikipedia is by far one of the greatest websites in the world.
