For the last few years people have been telling me about this damn near mythic hot fix you can do that solves world peace, hunger and and makes your computer super fast.
Has anyone here installed a solid state drive as their main drive to improve their workflow. I'm mainly talking to Adobe Suite users and or not limited to Apple OSX users. I my self have an iMac and i'm wondering if this is something that I would benefit from.
Bonus point for anyone who's tried a Hybrid drive for the same thing.

Two SSD's in RAID0.
Although still quite expensive (relative, 1$ < 1gb), Its probably the best thing you could upgrade for performance gains than any other component on your mac/pc right now, ESPECIALLY for Adobe Suite. Editing big ass files or multiple (MULTIPLE) layers is super fast.
Although, when I got them (2-3 years ago), there was still alot of user upkeep to update their bios/firmware so that the drive would essentially function properly. I haven't done much research with the current SSD's, but it seems they have improved alot where you don't even have to worry about them, but a little google research will assure you that this isnt something that has been improved upon.
Regardless, if you are on mac, there are alot of youtube tutorials on installing ssds for your imac.
Always keep backups, regardless of the storage tech you use!

Getting one was probably the first time I ever noticed a considerable difference for the better in terms of speed. comp starts up super fast. And ps starts up super fast. But I'd hardly say it's saved me much time over all. Perhaps I'm not that busy tho.

we have an ssd as our main drive in the server in my office.
it really is considerably faster. the machine reboots in like 5 seconds.

i run an ssd as my applications/OS drive. Its awesome. not all ssd drives are equal. if you go the route check the controllers and transfers rates. Transfer rates change also with the sizes of the drives so keep that in mind.

I have an SSD in a macbook pro. Suffice to say, I'm never going back.

Thought this was a SS Decontrol thread... got excited for a second there. Carry on.

SSD in mine, made a world of difference. Put your working files on it and archive to another drive when done. Will never go back.

Dunno about 'creative workflow' but
they sure make your computer run quicker.

Yeah ok, my point in posting here is asking like minded people who do the same stuff I do. I'm not a copywriter, im a designer. It was the best way to word it at the time.
- It usually involves splitting your work into 2 drives unless you can justify getting a larger SSD. This part kind of sucks.raf
