Moving to Bristol soon, and wondering which area would be best to live in. At the moment I'm thinking Clifton might best .. any other suggestions?

Best place to live in Brooklands?

lived there a good while ago but seem to remember Clifton was kind of posh village feel.
Redland or Cotham was always pretty cool, anywhere near Whitladies rd good.
Montpellier and St Pauls edgy going towards rough

Don't bother with Clifton unless you routinely like paying 30%-50% more rent/mortgage. Overpriced and snooty with it.
Redland is cool but a bit studenty, St Andrews, Cotham, St Pauls all good. The area around the docks is good and you can get some good deals on new appartments.

Clifton: lovely place, shame about the rich students etc. Expensive.
Hotwells, Redland, Cotham : Surround Clifton (all walking distance), nice & quiet. nice little pubs. Expensive.
Bedminster, southville: up and coming blah blah, nice little food & drink places. Cheaper than above.
Montpellier: boho in a unique bristol way.
St Pauls: Rough but fun. white bristol folks shit scared of here but it's that bark worse than bite thing... mind you, wouldn't let my GF walk around at night. Cheapish as result.
Bishopston: goes up gloucester road (all sorts going on that road). quiet and central(ish)
Easton: bit like st pauls, further out, has a vibrant arts scene.
Good luck! Glad your making the move!
