If using AE,
the most ridiculous process is now in place with the 64bit CS5 version (not 32bit iirc).Save as uncompressed mov from AE > open in photoshop > save for web
What gayness is that, AE cant even produce gifs now. Money grabbing bastards adobe!
- It's better importing the frames into PS, you have much more control over compressionanimatedgif

You will always be limited to 256 colours if that is your question.
You need technical skills to make it look decent

you tell me that those super cool gifs we see only have 256 colors?
- hilchev0
I don't believe you

Yeah I was lying about the 256 colours thing, when you save for web in Photoshop CS5 hold down cmd(mac) or ctrl(windows) keys and type IDDQD then it will enable Photoshops experimental options and you'll be able to use GIFHD instead of the regular old GIF89a. GIFHD only works in Chrome, Firefox and Safari though because it's part of HTML5.
GIF89a (256 colour limit)
GIFHD (HTML5 Browsers only)
