work is work. working with friends creatively yes, usually awesome. working for friends... depends on the friend. if you think it's a good project, get involved... then maybe you won't mind working for free.

To expand...when things are good, it can be great. When there is a LOT of money invested, time, etc., then people get stressed. That's when things can go wrong.
Depends on the stakes. Not much money/time, no worries. When you have years and tons of money invested in something, friendship can get in the way and business can get in the way of friendship.
I will never do it again.

it will test your friendship and make it better because to survive the communication has to be strong.
