Anyway you could have it stop on a frame. Then if you hit another button - the gif would resume playing?

okay final question if there a script that could take a screen shot of an upload animated gif. Then save the the one frame out to a folder?
Kinda how youtube has thumbnails for videos?

The screen captures of a videos are not animated gifs. It takes frame from X position of the total length of the movie and it is sequenced via scripting.
You can create an animated gif and upload them somewhere. Processing has a class for that.
