If you like French food and a good wine selection, the Little Door on 3rd Street in Fairfax village is perfect. And, it's just around the corner from the Farmer's Market and The Grove if you want to check that out first.

Great indoor outdoor feel in the courtyard:
I pretty much eat there any time I'm celebrating and as often as I can when I'm not. Tables are easy to get but make reservations.

Luna Park in West Hollywood. Get the mahi
Chaya Venice in Santa Monica/Venice, try the truffle mac & cheese
Bandera in Brentwood, get the steak and enchilada platter. While you're there, get a dirty martini on the rocks with blue cheese olives.
